Cloud Computing is starting to live up to its potential. In the last three years, technology’s cloud sector has shown an explosion in the number of new jobs, even though this whole industry is really just starting out. Current statistics show that the cloud computing arena is creating a new economic paradigm for many industries and businesses; its created many opportunities and job growth beyond the cloud service companies.
There is tremendous growth happening in cloud computing. When it was still new, the cloud sector grew explosively in areas beyond job growth in the last three years. The recent data reveals that the cloud computing service is providing with a new economic paradigm for a number of industries and business establishments, creating job opportunities and growth beyond what was expected while the cloud service companies are boosting the expansion.
According to a study called Job Growth in the Forecast: How Cloud Computing is Generating New Business Opportunities and Fueling Job Growth in the United States, cloud computing could impact the global economy by adding over four million jobs within the next five years.
The study says three industry mega trends are propelling the growth of cloud services and employment: the boom in mobile computing devices such as smart phones and tablets; the “social” trend in online services; and the growth of “Big Data” flows that require more data management services.
Government policies and purchasing decisions at all levels will also have a major influence on cloud adoption and job growth. The study confirms that cloud computing can have a significant impact at every key growth stage of the business lifecycle from launching a startup to expanding a business to managing a multi-national enterprise. Cloud computing will accelerate business growth which leads to jobs in certain industries.
A study recently commissioned by the Microsoft Corporation shows that here will be almost 14 million new jobs globally that will be a direct result of IT Cloud Services in both the public and private sectors in the four year period between 2011 and 2015. Job creation will be greatly impacted by the cloud. It’s the kind of technology that will reduce a company’s expenses, give new incentives to innovators, and create employment and new job skills worldwide.
In a growing trend that is being seen, many corporations use collaborative software that is cloud based, and they aren’t just using this for their internal employees, they are also using it to share information with partners, share information with vendors, and engage these constituencies. So it’s really not just about maintaining technology but also about leveraging it to drive revenue for the business.
Underwriters laboratory, a global company providing safety testing and certification for a wide range of product categories is one of the enterprises which make use of cloud to boost innovation. Recently, the business has acquired a few companies that open up the services it is able to offer to its customers. Because Office 365 frees the company from adding and maintaining new servers, UL has been able to complete its technology integrations very rapidly. UL can now integrate new employees within a few weeks instead of several months even if it’s a large acquisition in China or a small one in Australia.
These results only confirm what those in the cloud community have suspected for a long time. The impending growth of mobile computing, social networking and data management all have one thing in common, the cloud which is why job growth in this area cannot be ignored.
