The simple fact that there’s a store that sells discount wakeboards, that doesn’t mean you can just buy the cheapest one they sell. discount wakeboards or no discount, there are a number of very important features you should pay close attention to ahead of any wakeboard purchase.

For starter’s there’s safety. Those new and veteran to the sport both have to put their safety first. As far as safety is concerned, you need to make sure you know your level of skill. Those new to the sport would be best served by longer, heavier boards because they’re more stable. Once the wakeboarder has had a chance to master some basic skills, then an upgrade to lighter, shorter boards can be considered. There’s even the board’s rocker to consider, which is a word to define the level of curvature on the board. To put it simply, beginners are best suited to boards with high rockers. Boards with lower rockers are really only suited to professionals. That there are so many boards for so many levels of boarders explains why wakeboarding can be such an expensive sport. New wakeboarders will probably have at least two wakeboards within their first year. That’s yet another reason why opting for discount wakeboards is such a smart way to go.

Once you’ve picked out your new equipment, whether it’s new or a discount wakeboard, you’ll need to get a set of bindings. Even if you’re looking at a used board with a set of existing bindings that you can fit into; or if the store offers free bindings, which are usually made cheaply and not terribly safe, the smartest choice is to have a custom set made. Everyone has their own comfort level which is pretty important if you want to wakeboard for more than a few minutes without pain!

Finally, make sure not to let the price be your sole deciding factor. Whether it’s discount wakeboards you’ve got your eyes on or you want a brand new one, the most important thing is that the equipment suits your weight, that it can hold up to your skill and most of all, that it makes you feel excited to use it!
